The impact of Policy in Cybersecurity

For all of the history nerds out there, if you remember Eisenhower, he was convinced that laws can't do anything to change human attitudes towards a subject. Well, he was definietly wrong, as laws actually can make or break a person, thing, or field of work depending about the policies behind said law. I believe that federal government action will change peoples biews about cybersecurity, as right now the field is really under appretiated for what it does in peoples lives. Furthermore, the government can also control what cybersecurity practices are enacted, as banning TikTok as a cybersecurity practice was certainly not the solution to the problem, rather, the implemenation of good cybersecurity practices could have potentially avoided the problem, along with regulation of harmful media. Of course, this stipulation comes with the problem of censorship and whatnot, but the point of this talk is that the federal government needs to do more in terms of cyber security.
